Barry Colyer, Broker/Owner answered:
Oakland could be the best fit for you. Oakland NJ was just ranked #43 in the country by Business Week in November 2007 as one of best communities to raise a family. Oakland schools are excellent, Oakland is right down the road from Ramapo College, and while Oakland doesn't have a train station in town, we do have NJ Transit for bus service. For train lines to Hoboken, there is a newer hub on Rt. 17 in Ramsey that offers plenty of parking. The home price of $500,000 - $550,000 for a 3/4 bedroom home is also very reasonable - you should be able to find the perfect home for you and your family. Oakland is slated for a downtown improvement - the goal is to give the downtown area a facelift and make it more pedestrian-friendly. I'm the broker/owner of the RE/MAX Traditions Real Estate office located in downtown Oakland, and have been the #1 Realtor in Oakland NJ since 2000. Please visit my web site athttp:// www.Oakland-NJ.com where you will find the link to the Busiess Week article, be able to perform Bergen County home searches from my NJMLS IDX database, and view detailed town, school, and commutation information about Oakland, Mahwah, Ramsey, and all other northwestern Bergen County communities. - Thu Jan 17 2008, 08:29
