The fact that residents are walking away from their homes in Vista Lakes tells the story much better than any comments. Residents are choosing to go into foreclosure rather than risk their health and safety by continuing to live in a dangerous and unhealthy development that is littered with live ordnance and chemical waste.

Luigi,
Vista Lakes is a Master Planned Community very near the Orlando Intl Airport. The Beachline expressway and the Greene way Express ways make it a great location to get to downtown or the coast. The have great neighborhood schools, shopping and a fantastic recreation area. Homes are priced from the modest range to what ever you budget dictates. It is a fairly new community less than 10yrs old. There has been some controversy regarding the old army bombing range but this has been way over done.
The area is Beautiful,Rick.

Unfornutately, there is much mis-information out there about Vista Lakes and its relation to the bombing range. The Vista Lakes development is very nice! and made up of multiple sub-divisions, of which only a small percentage of the Vista Lakes development may be affected by former land leased by the Army in the 1940's. To my knowlege no "chemical wastes" were found. The soil tests which have been done have shown that the land is safe. The Army is currently undergoing to major search and clean up effort on the land, including all affected homesites, and they will be completed in about a year. So...much of Vista Lakes was not built on a "bombing range." It would be nice, if the media, particularly the Orlando Sentinel, could get their facts straight. This is a wonderfull development, walking friendly, with a really cool pool facility, that is great for families. It even has it's own shopping center with a Publix, and two very nice children learning facilites close by; as well as an 'A' rated elementary school.

Many Vista Lakes homes were built on a World War II bombing range. The Army Corps of Engineers has been excavating live bombs and other ordnance since it was discovered in Vista Lakes subdivisions July 2007. Chemical wastes were also found during the excavations. Rather than put themselves in jeopardy, many residents are walking away from their Vista Lakes homes and going into foreclosure.

Thumbs up from me. It's a great planned development with a lot of growth around it with a new Medical school and the Burnham Institute scheduled to be built and creating more demand for housing in the area. New schools have been built recently in the area which have received great reviews. I would go for the single family stuff if you're concerned about resale value.

Vista Lakes is a great neighborhood in a fantastic part of town. East Orlando is growing rapidly and there is no shortage of amenities. Vista Lakes itself is very aesthetically pleasing, it has a fantastic aquatic center/water park, and shopping and dining venues are being built all around. It's proximity to the airport, beaches, theme parks and attractions is a huge plus. Vista Lakes is also very near some great shopping centers, such as Waterford Lakes Towncenter, The Mall at Millenia and more. Waterford Lakes alone has 30 restaurants and is very rapidly doubling it's size.

If you should need any further information on Vista Lakes, don't hesitate to contact us. I can be reached at cjmyers@kw.com or 407-538-0127.
