Tracy just moved to South Brunswick and her husband Peter used to work at Toyota Queens, Toyota Avenul and Toyota Dayton, now settle at South Brunswick.
I mentioned Tracy because she is very savvy person and has bought house in NYC and 7 condos in Edison for investment, and before she settle South Brunswick, she spent lots of time on computer to do comparison. Here are some of the reason she chose South Brunswick over North Brunswick: 1. It is right off Rt 1 and NJ Turnpike that she needs to visit her father still in Queens NY every week. So, it is conveniently to hop on NJ Turnpike which has no exit at North Brunswick as you can see http://maps.google.com/maps?q=162+Deans+Ln,+Monmouth+Junction 2. She said her 3 kids are very happy with the school since the schools are brand new construction, and teachers are younger with lots of energy to work with small kids. 3. There are lots of land, her home is several acre where her husband Peter put at 8 car garage at the backyard to repair cars. And, North Brunswick can not find such property or too much to reach. 4. It is very close to largest Asian Supermarket off Rt 27 in Somerset Plaza http://www.pennrealestategroup.com/retail_properties/somerse that has very best price of Chiense grocery in NJ. I know many people from Morristown to shop here. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=Rt+27+a 5. There are many new and large townhouse communities in South Brunswick, and new comers need auto service that is closed to her home garage. 6. Also Dayton has a huge auto parts center that Peter can pick up parts any time, where as other auto repair stores in North Brunswick or even north like Edison and Avenel will take more time, that may cause more wait time and effort. 7. Many Chinese people in Princeton church came to Peter for auto repairs whereas North Brunswick would be too far. 8. Gas price is cheaper in South Brunswick than North Brunswick along Rt 1, along Rt 130, the gas price would be even cheaper. 9. If you need auto check up or more about South Brunswick, just give Tracy a call at 917 669-8209 (cell), and she would be very glad to share her first hand info with you. 10. She also got a list of unbelievable good rate of mortgage bankers that she would be glad to share since she got experience of buying close to dozen properties. 11. If you call her and say Dr. Cheng refer you, then Peter would also give you a free auto check up. Peter is amazing maintaining my cars. To certain extend, if you live at South Brunswick, you will not have to worry about your cars. I said so because Avenel Toyota used to charge me close to $3,000 on my 70,000 miles Nissan Quest 94 check up, and when I escalate to General Manager, he firstly said, the auto repair labor is very expensive, I asked how much, he said $85 an hour, then I said, I only left my van there for 4 hours, it should be only about $340 on labor. Then he changed his attitude and mood and said, Oh, sorry, you know you are VIP, so we get 5 technician to service your van at the same time, so you need to times 5, but then I told him, after $340 x 5 still only $1,700. Wow! he apologized and took off $1,000+ from the bill. When I told Tracy this story years later when Peter worked there. She said, Peter said I was joking. Because I like to talk and talk lots of funny things. He said, he at Toyota Avenel, every technician only get paid $17 an hour, and each technician handle TWO jacks, as soon as customer's car in, whether starting repair or not, the car should be jack up so that customer will feel the car being started the work. Wow! that's $170 an hour charge. Even worse, if Peter has only 3 hour work that day, he only get paid $17x3 ... even though Peter was required to be there 9 to 5pm. So, I decided to have Peter maintain my cars. 4 years ago my Nissan did not pass the DMV, and dealers wanted thousands to repair and told me to just trade in, but it only cost Peter $800 to get get everything done and passed, so I am still driving that van in now year 2008. Hey, that's 14 years.... If that not make you feel exciting, I also has a Toyota Corollar 1990, and Peter took care of it, and it is now 18 years!! Here is my sharing experience in epinion 2 years ago http://www.epinions.com/content_251569540740 So, to certain extend, live at South Brunswick and near Peter will make your life much easier ... In general, both North Brunswick and South Brunswick are good, rural but lots of plaza like Walmart, MarketFair Mall ...etc. But you need to know Rt 1 traffic is very heavy as Peter said he quick Toyota Avenel because the commute killing him so changed to Dayton Toyota before work at home garage... Hi Alla,
There are many different areas of North Brunswick. Based on Price Range of single family homes here are in order from highest to lowest: Farrington Lake, Hidden Lake, Colonial Gardens, Renaissance, Brunswick Knoll, Indian Head, Royal Brook, Paddington Park. There are more areas after that but most are unnamed areas of the town are all are about at the same level. Now to answer your second question. South Brunswick and North Brunswick are just about the same. The school district are both highly rated but South Brunswick is slightly higher. Taxes are about the same but you might see pockets of higher taxes in South Brunswick because there has been more new construction in South Brunswick in the past 15 years. The communities are about the same in regards to township services. The commutes are normally greater for South Brunswick by train but the bus might be faster in South Brunswick depending on where you are in the town. Both towns are very nice to live in and I hope I was helpful. Fri Feb 8 2008, 08:42

Hi
Tax rates are a bit higher for south brunswick. South Bruwnswick has blue ribbon schools. South Brunswick is closer to Princeton & some parts offer better commuting options if one travles to Manhattan. North Brunswick lies Off Rt 27 as well as Rt 130 ( newer homes)- Deans pond crossing & rennaissance)--good location for those needing good access to Rt 1 , New Brunswick train station . Princeton Walk & other communities along Promenade Blvd in South Brunswick offer good options to first time home buyers looking for newer homes. Hope this helps.
