is an appropriate answer on Trulia?
Jed,
Probably so, I mean anyone new to the site if they are a little older may not be as tech savy. But for the most part I am sure they know. Maybe if they put a small "contact me" link below the picture. I don't know but, I do second your statement of I love this site. I just like the forum.
No it isn't appropriate. I would go so far as to say that the agents that do it are really doing themselves a diservice. I'm over 50 years old and yet I know that the basic underlying aspect of web 2.0 is to be authentic and give good value to the community. When I first got into RE I was told direct mailing was the best method to reach people and remind them of you value proposition. Been there, done that, came back broke.
The people that are looking at this forum see who you are, there is a picture next to your words. They can get in touch with you very easily by clicking on your name. There is no need to put you name in the post at the bottom or to say "Hi it's blah blah blah here" before you write your response or observation.
I like this forum better than ActiveRain and allot of places where people use false names. Nothing against Elvis who is consistant and it seems has not left the building.
Brian,
No as Elvis stated there are rules to postings on Trulia. No solicitation is allowed on Trulia Voices. Also as in the other two answers if someone wants to contact you all they have to do is click on your name to het the profile and then they can contact you. I will admit I did along time ago put my phone number on here but stopped a good while back. This forum is about helping people with real problems or questions. Just throwing up your contact info does not mean you know how to help them or even answer the question.
No, Brian, it's not an appropriate answer according to Trulia's community guidelines.
If the person asking the question were interested in "phoning" a realtor they would have done so, instead of posting their question on a website. They're looking for an answer, or at least a direction toward an answer. If you can provide good answers, and good content, as Cathy suggests, people will call you directly through your profile.
The public is smart enough to identify those who are just asking for phone calls, and those who are providing information.
No. I answer as honestly as I can with the limited information given. Those who like your answer and desire more info will contact you. Sometimes I will end with "If I can assist you please contact me."
My contact information is in my Turlia profile, those interested will find your contact info and call or e-mail.
I have been answering questions since Mid March and have had 5 individuals contact me for assistance direct. 3 of the contacts were individuals that read my answer but did not post the question I answered.
